Earlier this week, Apple launched the new Free on iTunes section which contains selection of songs and a list of full-length TV episodes. Consumers in the United States will get to have this freebie straight from iTunes.

Avid fans and iOS users can check the iTunes Store and just look for the Free on iTunes blue button located in the Music or TV Shows tabs. Currently, there are 16 songs and 24 TV shows being offered on the Free on iTunes section. Consumers can just click on the Get button instead of the usual Buy button. There are also some free shows which are listed outside of the blue button but comes with a free yellow tag.

During its pilot, the artists featured on iTunes’ free section include The Bright Light Social Hour, Hiss Golden Messenger and Machine Head. Other artists on the blue button also include: Nude Beach, Guster, Robin Bacior, Juaz, Handmouth, Michelle Chamuel, Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas, Asking Alexandria, Thumpers, Purity Ring, Washed Out, Tobias Jesso Jr.and Rogue Wave whose single “Eyes” is now the most popular, PCMag reports.

Full-length television episodes include hits like “Ace of Cakes,” “Rev Run's Renovation” and “My Big Fat Fabulous Life.” Other TV episodes available are: Fox's “Blackstrom,” Syfy's “12 Monkeys,” Disney Junior's “Miles from Tomorrowland,” Disney's “K.C. Undercover,” BBC America's ”The Musketeers” and MTV's “Eye Candy,” all available in either HD and standard versions.

The new promotion comes after Apple recently discontinued its free "Single of the Week" program. Looking back, the “Single of the Week” gives users free track every 7 days. The tech giant has also ditched its other promotions like the “12 Days of Gifts,” which is normally launched during the holidays, Techno Buffalo reports.

There is no confirmation whether Apple will choose to add additional content like software, movies or books. Additionally, the giant company also offers a special $0.99 movie-of-the-week promotion. It has also launched the iBookstore which features an updated list of free books.
