Apple has rolled out an update for the second-screen app Duet Display that brings a new resolution option for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, as well as iPads and Macs that run similar software.

Duet Display is an app that turns an iPad or an iPhone into a secondary display for a Mac. Using a Lightning cable, a user can interface with an iPad or iPhone at far lesser lag. The lag problem typically arises when an iOS device connected by Wi-Fi is used as a second-screen for a Mac. Interestingly, the Lightning cable was the first used by Duet Display.

Rahul Dewan, developer of Duet Display, said the update brings “massive improvements” and said it was necessary to use the high-resolution display on a Mac or PC to maintain a lag-free connection. Several updates since 2014 to Duet Display have helped improve the performance of iPads and Macs. Even older versions of iPad and Macs enjoy enhanced performance using the Duet Display app.

Duet Display’s latest version reduces CPU usage by 80 percent on a Mac, iPad or PC thanks to the new algorithm. Duet Display is available at the App store (iTunes) and can be download by paying $9.99 (reg. $15.99).
