Apple is reportedly planning to stop making the plastic-backed iPhone 5C less than a year after the device's initial release. Quoting a Wall Street Journal report, Slashgear said there is a chance the Cupertino-based tech giant would instead have an all-metal lineup before 2014 ends.

Although the Web site found it hard to believe that Apple would scrap a line of gadget even before it reaches its first anniversary of roll out, Slashgear did not rule out Apple laying low on pushing the 5C due to the popularity of the 5S.

Computerworld quoted Technology Business Research analyst Ezra Gottheil, who interviewed Apple CEO Tim Cook, who admitted 5C was a mistake. In the Monday conference call with Wall Street, Mr Cook admitted that the lower-priced phone underperformed vis-à-vis the 5S which sold more units than expected.

The portal also added to the growing speculation that the iPhone 6 would have larger display sizes. The two new iPhones reportedly to be released this year would have a screen size between 4.5 and 5 inches and larger than 5 inches.

Mashable added that the 4.5-inch screen phone is reportedly near mass production, while the larger one is still in preliminary development stage. But neither of the two smartphones would have a curved display.
