Apple Watch 2 may have health sensors and FaceTime camera
Apple launched its first generation smartwatch in April this year. It soon escalated to the top two spot in wearables next to FitBit. A report stated that Apple has already started working on Apple Watch 2 following the release of its first version.
According to a leak by Chinese Website MyDrivers, Apple Watch may be launched in April along with iPhone 6c. MacWorld reported that iPad Air 3 will also be launched along with iPhone 6c and Apple Watch 2.
Tim Cook, in an interview with Telegraph, said that the Apple Watch may come with an app which will work adjacent to a medical device. He said Apple Watch 2 will not be a medically-oriented device as getting approval from FDA would affect the product release cycle. However, Cook hinted that the company may introduce a medical-oriented app.
"We don't want to put the watch through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) process. I wouldn't mind putting something adjacent to the watch through it, but not the watch, because it would hold us back from innovating too much. The cycles are too long," Cook said. "But you can begin to envision other things that might be adjacent to it -- maybe an app, maybe something else," he added.
It is speculated that the Apple Watch 2 may be equipped with more health sensors which will help with better health tracking and monitoring. It will also support an SMS and email feature without an iPhone. Another report suggests that the wearable will have a FaceTime camera that will enable the users to use FaceTime calls even without an iPhone.
MyDrivers claims that the mentioned gadgets may be launched in April next year with the Apple Watch 2 and will hit the market a month later.
It would be interesting to know what the Apple Watch 2 may finally come with, so let’s wait and see.
