Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly plotting a move to acquire Schalke attacker Julian Draxler, who he can transform into a Robin van Persie 2.0.

According to sources, the Gunners have already inquired on the 20-year-old's availability, but a transfer this January seems highly improbable.

The German starlet is playing as creative player behind the main strikers for his current club, which Wenger is keen on transforming to more of a forward role, just like he did with RVP.

Wenger's experimentations in the past proved successful, with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry serving as one of his guinea pigs aside from van Persie.

Even though Draxler will not be heading to the Emirates any time soon, expect "The Professor" not to get desperate and opt for a second-best available option, should there be any.

On a different perspective, however, he might go for the £35million worth wonderkid to further strengthen his squad this January as the Gunners are in the best position of clinching the Premier League crown this season since, what seemed like, forever.
