The first side-scrolling title in the “Assassin’s Creed” video game series, “Assassin Creed Chronicles: China” took the series into a new location, previously unexplored by other games in the franchise. Now it appears that “Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China” could be headed to familiar territory, for both the series and Ubisoft, as there’s a possibility that the title will be coming to mobile devices.

Rumours for the "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" mobile appearance started through Pocket Gamer, after a fan of the site opened up the PC version of the game and settings that are usually part of iOS and Android devices. The site then confirmed the news and even pointed out that everything form the iPhone 3GS to the iPad 4 are listed on the iOS side.

This could be a big hint that the title will be coming to mobile devices sooner rather than later. However, it can also be seen as a sign that the mobile version of the game may have been cancelled and developer Ubisoft simply decided to port the game to current-gen consoles and the PC.

Originally, Digtial Spy stated that Ubisoft declined to make a comment on the possibility of “Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles China.” A representative of the company later told Pocket gamer that the company does not comment on rumour and speculation.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to see “Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China” on mobile devices. The game is a side-scrolling platformer after all, making the transition to mobile devices less difficult than transferring say “Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag” or “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” to a mobile device.

As mentioned earlier, this is the first time an “Assassin’s Creed” game has been done in a side-scrolling format. The story of the game has players in the role of Shao Jun, the last member of the Chinese Brotherhood, as she partakes in a mission of revenge, with plans to kill the Templars around China.

“Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China” is reportedly the first part of an “Assassin’s Creed Chronicles” trilogy that is also set to feature Russia and India in the next two installments. The game came out last week for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
