With Paris as the background for "Assassin's Creed Unity," it's hard not to take in all the historical value and content that one can incorporate into the title. And this is exactly what the developers of the next-gen-only title had in mind.

Talking in a dev blog over at the official Assassin's Creed website, writer Russell Lees discussed some of the Paris Stories and side content missions that gamers can enjoy in "Assassin's Creed Unity."

One of the noticeable things in the game is that all o the side missions and content that gamers will encounter are somehow tied to a historical aspect of the period. This makes not only a historically interesting take on the French Revolution, but the side content for "Assassin's Creed Unity" alone is already a treasure trove of activity and experience.

And just because these are side missions does not mean that they happen separately from the main narrative. If anything, the Paris Stories missions are said to be dictated by the Assassin Brotherhood in some way as well.

"Occasionally some of the stories connect to, or spin off of some of the characters you meet on the main path, like the Marquis de Sade for instance. But as the player can attempt these at any time, they couldn't link too closely to the main narrative thrust," Lees said over at the official Assassin's Creed website.

In the end, exploration is something of a must-have when exploring the Paris Stories, because you never know what might turn up in your investigation.

Exploration also comes in the form of customisation of the character. "Assassin's Creed Unity" will feature the co-op features, first introduced for the franchise, and there seems to be a lot happening and a lot of opportunities to diversify the way you approach the game.

Eurogamer has gotten a look at the mechanics of the co-op customization. It seems that the customisation goes beyond costume and looks alone as you have more than 200 pieces of gear that you can unlock. Even the play style of a character can be manipulated and changed depending on which specific aspect you want to pump up and highlight for a character.

The video shows off all of these and more, even touching on the microtransactions that have been making its rounds in console games.
