HTC's camera-centric smartphone Desire EYE is an AT&T exclusive device in the U.S. The handset will reportedly hit store shelves on Friday, Nov. 7.

HTC Desire Eye is priced at $149.99 under a 2-year contract with the carrier. In case readers would like to purchase the handset without a contract, the device can be availed for $549.99 outright. In addition, AT&T's Next 18 plan can be utilised to buy the device for $0 down and 18 monthly payments of $22.92. On the other hand, AT&T's Next 12 plan can be availed for $0 down and 12 monthly payments of $27.50, according to Phone Arena.

Furthermore, the Desire Eye buyers can also purchase HTC's stand-alone camera "RE" with a $50 discount from the original price. HTC's RE Camera is the company's periscope-shaped action camera. AT&T will start accepting preorders of this uniquely designed camera from Nov. 7. Also, the RE camera will be available for purchase from AT&T stores starting Nov. 21. The RE camera can be purchased for $199.

When it comes to key specifications, the HTC Desire Eye smartphone features a 5.2-inch display and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. Notably, most of the specifications are in line with HTC's 2014 flagship One (M8). However, the difference is in the form of the mounted camera units. The Desire Eye sports a 13 MP rear- and front-facing cameras with dual-LED flash, whereas the One M8 features Duo Camera. Without a doubt, the latest HTC smartphone is a selfie lover's dream device.

Additionally, this HTC handset comes with Split Capture and Crop-Me-In camera features. The Split Capture divides the image into two, 50/50, by combining the images captured with the front and rear shooters. Meanwhile, the Crop-Me-In feature appends any captured image onto any other available image, just like Photoshop. Moreover, the device has two built-in camera-centric apps, namely, HTC Eye Experience and HTC Zoe. However, both apps are not exclusive to Desire Eye, says GSM Arena.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by a quad-core (Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz, and is backed by a solid 2 GB of RAM. The device runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense v6 UI on top of it. The device is also equipped with 16 GB of in-built storage and microSD card slot for expansion up to 128 GB. It is packed with a Li-Ion 2400 mAh battery unit.
