Australian professional tennis player Bernard Tomic faces dishonour over a drug scandal. A recent report says that Tomic has once said to a young girl that he had stash of cocaine worth $50,000.

According to a report by the Gold Coast Bulletin, court documents reveal that Tomic was hanging out with the teenage girl at his friend’s Surfer’s Paradise penthouse apartment when the drug confession took place. The said residence reportedly belongs to Jamie Pickering. Apparently, Tomic and Pickering became acquaintances when the tennis player often visited Pickering’s night clubs.

The report said that the demoralizing claim came to pass based on a judge’s decision on why Pickering has been committed to stand trial on the charges of supplying prohibited drugs to minors. According to Pickering, he tried to reach Tomic for comment, but it seemed that he wasn’t able to speak with the tennis player. It is understood that Tomic was in Miami ahead of his participation at the Indian Wells Masters tournament. The Australian nightclub mogul, who owns Varsity and Sin City nightclubs, also added that he is certain Tomic would be “surprised” to find out about the girl’s reference to him in the court documents.

Pickering stressed that the girl’s statements about Tomic’s alleged confession of stashing cocaine was spoken in jest and nothing but simply a piece of good-natured playful remark. “I know for a fact he (Tomic) doesn’t touch anything or even go near it,” Pickering said. “She says he said that, it’s just a joke and it’s obviously gone the wrong way.”

Pickering is already facing offences connected with the supply of prohibited drugs. He has been charged in four separate occasions between January and April 2013. Two of those charges were linked to the supply of drugs to minors. Tomic, on the other hand, is not facing charges at all.

Several social media users reacted to the Tomic’s drug scandal case. Some were shocked and said that they didn’t expect Tomic to be embroiled in such thing.

Tomic is currently competing at the 2015 BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells Masters. He is seeded 32nd in the tournament and had received a bye in the opening round. Tomic will start his campaign against Borna Coric in his opening match.
