Australian Artists Gotye and Kimbra Win Big at 2013 Billboards Music Awards [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
Along with Taylor Swift, Australian singer, Wouter "Wally" De Backer and Kimbra have won big again at the 2013 Billboards Music Awards. Gotye and Kimbra and their hit song, “Somebody That I Used to Know,” won in four awards, allowing the Aussie artists to bring home four of the seven categories they were nominated for at the recently concluded Billboards Awards.
The four awards for “Somebody That I Used To Know”:
- Hot 100 Song
- Rock Song
- Radio Song
- Streaming Song (Audio)
Gotye and Kimbra’s hit song, “Somebody That I Used To Know,” has reportedly sold 7.3 million downloads, based on the data tracked between March 12, 2012 and March 10, 2013, said Billboard.com.
The event, held at MGM Las Vegas, also saw big winners in Taylor Swift and Rihanna. Gotye and Kimbra came next to Taylor Swift who nabbed eight outstanding awards. Rihanna is the only other artist with four awards, said MTV News Australia.
Gotye, along with Kimbra was also nominated for two major categories. One, Top New Artist and another, Top Rock Artist. One Direction beat Gotye to the Top New Artist award while fun outshined the Aussie singer to the Top Rock Artist awards.
Taylor Swift got the top awards, as Billboard Artist of the Year, with 7 other awards. Other winners include Madonna, who took home the Top Touring Artist awards. Rihanna was awarded the R&B artist award, album and song categories, and Radio Songs Artist. Madonna, Nicki Minaj and One Direction. Check out the complete list of winners here.
