Australian Tennis Player Bernard Tomic Charged With Trespassing And Resisting Arrest After Loud Party In Miami
It has been a terrible month so far for Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic. Last night, Tomic was reportedly charged with trespassing and resisting arrest after the police authorities were called at a penthouse suite in Miami where the Australian tennis star was staying.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports, Tomic was staying at the W Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida. He was having an epic celebration at the penthouse suite when the neighbors griped about the loud music and noise coming from Tomic’s party.
The hotel security went up to caution Tomic and told the Australian to keep the noise down, but Tomic wasn’t willing to give in to the request. Tomic, who seemed to be having a good time at his party, lost his emotional cool and started jabbing his fingers towards the security people before shutting the door in their faces.
As a result, Tomic was ordered to be expelled from the hotel. The police officials arrived and told Tomic and his crew to depart the hotel. Tomic’s guests immediately left the scene, but the Australian number one wasn’t keen to leave. He was arrested and booked for trespassing and resisting arrest at a nearby jail. Tomic was eventually released on bail worth $2000.
Tomic was certainly having a rough week. Just recently, he made headlines when Tennis Australia accidentally let go a press release saying that Tomic was playing at the ‘Hall of Shame’ instead of the Hall of Fame Championships. Tennis Australia has apologised via a statement posted on its official website and said that it was simply a case of typographical error, but Tomic’s father thought it was unethical for Tennis Australia to allow such statement to be published and reportedly seeking legal advice about the matter.
Earlier this month, Tomic was also omitted from Australia’s Davis Cup tie against Kazakhstan, which takes from July 17 to 19, 2015 at the Marrara Sports Complex in Darwin. The 25th-world ranked player was eliminated after his verbal tirade against Australia’s tennis organisation following his third-round loss 6-3 6-3 6-3 to Novak Djokovic at the All England Club.
Tomic last played at the Hall of Fame Championships. He was ousted in the first round 6-3 7-5 by fellow compatriot John Patrick Smith.
