“Avengers: Age of Ultron” director Joss Whedon had once confirmed that the total running time for the film is over three hours. However, the theatrical release was less than three hours long. Apparently, some scenes were deleted from the final cut. These include Loki’s cameo appearance, and according to Whedon, Quicksilver supposedly had more scenes in the film [Spoiler Alert!].

Empire Online recently sat down with Joss Whedon and Paul Bettany for its “Avengers: Age of Ultron” spoiler podcast, where the director revealed the scenes not shown in the final theatrical release of the film. Whedon shared what Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) cameo appearance was supposed to look like.

"We even had a little reference to the fact that he’s taken the throne, which was Tom doing his Anthony Hopkins impression when Thor says, 'Oh, what would father say?' Then Tom does his Hopkins impression, and Thor’s like, 'That is uncanny!' It’s sort of like his subconscious is telling him that Loki was imitating his father but he would never make that connection."

According to Comicbookmovie, Loki’s cameo in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was supposed to happen during the second part of Thor’s hallucination, when he was bewitched by Wanda Maximoff. However, the final cut revealed Idris appearing instead.

Joss Whedon reportedly had to fight with the studio over Loki’s cameo appearance in the sequel, considering the character’s importance to the film’s mythology. However, the studio relented in the end. Regardless of Loki’s scene having been deleted in the final cut, fans should expect to see it in the DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the film. Screencrush claimed the home release version is expected to be three hours long and will include some deleted scenes.

Quicksilver was supposedly also given a lot of screen time in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” According to Movieweb, Joss Whedon revealed that before the speedster’s death, he had more scenes where he’s shown as a ladies' man. The director didn’t reveal any further details. However, he assured that the DVD copy of the sequel will include the character’s deleted scenes.

Whedon also revealed that Quicksilver didn’t die in the alternate ending filmed for “Avengers: Age of Ultron, which again will be available in the film’s home release version. At the very end it would seem like Pietro Maximoff wakes up from a bad dream where he realises that those 47 bullets he took for Hawkeye actually didn’t kill him.
