'Avengers: Age of Ultron' — Origins Of The 'Twins' And The Source Of Their Powers Explained
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, the two cast members who play the “twins” in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” talked about their characters in a new report. The trailers of the movie show the powers of the characters and how they affect the superheroes. [Spoiler Alert!]
The trailer of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” shows Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver standing alongside the villain at one point and later helping the superheroes in the movie. This raises questions about whether they are good or evil in the movie. Speaking to ScreenCrush, Aaron Taylor-Johnson said that it was “not an easy answer” when he was asked about whether the characters were good or bad in the movie.
The report confirms that the two characters will be from a “fictional country of Sokovia.” The two characters will apparently be seen as government protestors in the movie who are offered power to protect themselves from the government. Baron Von Strucker is said to conduct experiments on them at an underground Hydra compound.
The director of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Joss Whedon, said in the report that the two characters are “very different” from what the fans may know about them from the comic books. Even the powers of the two characters are said to be different in the movie.
Elizabeth Olsen explains in the report that Baron has been experimenting on the two of them using Loki’s scepter from the first “Avengers” movie. The character is also said to be using “alien tech” to conduct his experiments on them. Most of his test subjects supposedly die in the movie, except the twins who are considered to be “special” cases.
Olsen described the powers of her character as the ability to enter her victim’s mind and see and experience their “biggest, darkest fear.” The character is said to physically experience the same things as her victims. Her other power is the ability to “manipulate energy.” The actress revealed that the “red stuff” that the fans see around her fingers in the trailers is actually her character manipulating energy.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson described his powers in the movie jokingly as “I run a lot.” The actor later added that Quicksilver’s super speed in the movie allows him to send his enemies “flying” with just a touch of his elbow or shoulder while running.
