'Avengers: Age Of Ultron': Robert Downey Jr. Talks Tony Stark's Future, Captain America As Avengers Leader
The recent trailer for “Avengers: Age of Ultron” teases Captain America becoming the leader of the Avengers and Roberto Downey Jr. has confirmed during an interview that Cap will in fact take the lead in the sequel. This turn of events may leave fans wondering what will happen to Tony Stark the moment Steve Rogers becomes the new leader.
Chris Evans was a little discreet with his reply when asked by i09 whether Captain America becomes the new leader in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” preferring to say “you’re going to have to see” the sequel to know. However, his co-star Robert Downey Jr. was more revealing in his responses during an exclusive interview with The Times of India. The actor, who plays Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man, said his character has always been willing to step down to two people only and that’s to partner Pepper Potts and to Captain America. So it’s no surprise for Stark to let Cap take charge.
“It's always whoever does the job best should probably do that job and Tony's bringing a lot to the table and Cap has the most experience,” he said, adding “It's also nice to feel like there's someone under whose tutelage you become better at what you have to do and no one's more battle-seasoned than Cap.”
Captain America taking charge and becoming the new leader of the Avengers is clearly reference in the latest TV Spot released for “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” In the video below Tony Stark could be seen pointing at Captain America when he tells Maria Hill that Steve Rogers “is the boss” and that he only “pays for everything and design everything to make everyone look cooler.”
Captain America being the new leader in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” brings one to wonder of Tony Stark’s future as the former person in charge. Robert Downey Jr. didn’t reveal any exact details to his character’s fate in the sequel. However, the Iron Man star confirmed during the interview that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has definite future plans for Tony Stark. The actor said there are really good ideas for Tony Stark to be involved in “the highest good” in future films.
