Best ways to take advantage of Telstra's free data day on April 3
As a gesture to apologise for the network's service disruption on March 17, Telstra CEO Andy Penn has announced the company will be providing free internet data to all its customers on Sunday, April 3.
Telstra customers and businesses across Australia had lost phone, SMS and internet service for more than two hours, prompting annoyed customers from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory poured in their grievances via Twitter.
This will be the second free data day for Telstra customers, with the telco giant also offering a free data day on Feb. 14 in response to another service failure earlier in February. Valentine's Day ended up being Telstra's busiest day ever.
This Sunday, customers will be able to use mobile internet data for free without any restrictions and limits. The free data offer will automatically be in place.
Technology commentator Trevor Long etched out four things that customers can do on free data day, as reported by SBS.
- Download movies and music: Customers may make use of the unlimited free data for Spotify and iTunes, downloading all the movies, videos and music they have wanted to for ages.
- Stream movies and videos: Make the best use of YouTube, Stan, Netflix, Foxtel Play and Quickflix. With 24 hours of free internet, customers can enjoy streaming their favourite movies, television shows, videos and much more without concerns about blowing their data. And the best part? You do it all on a Sunday.
- Mobile Hotspot: Customers can convert their smartphone into an 'internet hotspot', allowing them to access Telstra’s network even via laptop.
- Software updates: Users who need to update their devices may also download the necessary software updates for multiple applications.
