'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Leonard's woman from ships gets a name and face, premiere episode synopsis revealed
She was just some random woman whom Leonard (Johnny Galecki) kissed during his stay at North Sea for a research expedition. Now, this woman is getting a face and a name, and she is arriving in “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9 to rock Leonard and Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) relationship boat. Melissa Tang has been roped in to play the woman with whom he cheated on Penny for a brief moment.
Tang will be playing Mandy, and her character will be making an appearance in episode 2 of “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9, according to TV Line.
The previous season finale of “The Big Bang Theory” saw Leonard confessing to Penny about his infidelity while they were on their way to tie the knot in Las Vegas. There was a frosty chill in the car after the revelation, and it did not look like the two would be returning from Las Vegas as a married couple.
The premiere episode of “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9 will be solving the Penny-Leonard marriage cliffhanger. According to TV Line, the two get close to getting married, and the casting team is looking for a male actor who is in his 50s to play the role of a minister. This can only mean that the two reach Las Vegas, but whether the two get married or not is still up in the air. However, the entry of Mandy can only lead to Penny and Leonard’s verbal duel -- whether they get married or not.
In addition to Leonard’s 'I kissed a stranger on the ship' confession, the other big shocker of the episode was Amy’s (Mayim Bialik) decision to break up with Sheldon (Jim Parsons), unaware that he had bought a ring, probably with the intention to propose. Steven Molaro, the showrunner of “The Big Bang Theory,” said at Comic-Con that the premiere episode will answer the questions when did Sheldon buy the ring and when was he planning to propose.
The first episode of the new season will pick up a few hours after the two shocking events of Season 8 finale. The official synopsis of the premiere episode reads, “Brilliant Sheldon is confronted by a mystery of the universe he cannot unravel: when a woman wants time apart to think, exactly how much time does that mean, and is there any way to hurry the process along?”
“In Las Vegas, Penny and Leonard march closer to marching down the aisle, but has Penny gotten over Leonard’s infidelity? And if so, will he do anything to un-get her over it?”
“The Big Bang Theory” Season 9 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 on CBS in the U.S.
