'Black-ish' Season 1 Episode 21 Spoilers: Zoey Challenges Andre and Rainbow's Parenting Skills
In this week’s episode of the new ABC comedy series “Black-ish,” entitled the “Peer-ent Trap,” the Johnson family is shook up by some growing pains. Now that Andre and Rainbow’s kids are growing up, there are bound to be some teenage blues. While Andre and Rainbow try to figure out what to do, their own parents get involved as well. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]
Andre and Rainbow’s eldest child Zoey is now a full-on teenager. Now 15, she is going through a rebellious stage and is acting out. According to the episode synopsis shared by ABC, Dre and Bow won’t agree on how to handle the situation.
Andre thinks that he needs to rule his family with a firm hand. He needs to lay down the law and assert his authority. This is pretty much the same way that he was raised by Pops and his mom Ruby. Unfortunately, his wife Rainbow does not feel the same way. While Andre plays the bad cop, the episode preview states that Rainbow does not want t be a cop at all. In fact, she wants to be her daughter’s best friend. Pops doesn’t think that Rainbow’s idea is a good thing and sarcastically tells her that when Zoey brings home her own daughter soon, then Rainbow can have two best friends.
Rainbow thinks that they should go on completely the other direction. She wants to take a softer approach in dealing with their children just in the same way that she was raised by her own mom. Bow was raced by a pair of new-age hippies who believe in the non-confrontational resolution of issues and eating organic food among other things that Andre finds ridiculous.
In the episode stills also shared by ABC, Pops appears to be offering Dre and Bow some parenting advice. Also in one of the photos, Andre could be seen laying down some new family rules in an attempt to straighten things out.
Apart from Zoey, Andre and Rainbow also have to deal with their 13-year-old son Andre Jr. And their 6-year-old twins Diane and Jack. How they will eventually handle the situation will be revealed when “Black-ish” airs on Wedesday at 9:30 pm on ABC.
