BlackBerry welcomes its third phone for the year with the recently released Q5, the low-cost but classic-looking keyboarded phone.

Already, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins is positive about the public's reception of the phone. "I know this is going to be a big hit," he said to CNN Money.

For those who want to get their hands on this budget BlackBerry phone, you can look forward to potential releases as early as July, as CNet reports that BlackBerry has scheduled a July Q5 release for Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

It's even aiming to up the aesthetics appeal by three notches, as the Q5 will come in the usual black and white models, but also pink, orange, and red.

So far, the specs haven't been revealed, but it the Q5 sports the QWERTY keyboard and a 3.1-inch touchscreen, so it's not a far bet to see similarities between the Q5 and the Q10. It may come with less than spectacular features, but given that it already has a touchscreen, it's a fair bet that the specs are great for budget use.

As for the software, BlackBerry.com provides a list of features that can be found in the Q5, starting with the newly optimized keyboard along with its shortcuts. The BlackBerry Hub is also available, as expected of a BB10 OS. The TimeShift mode and Story maker, as wells the BBM Video with Screen Share can also be accessed via the Q5.

"The BlackBerry Q5 gives you the best of everything with its cutting-edge BlackBerry 10 functionality and a physical QWERTY keyboard," said Thorsten Heins in a statement. "It is for youthful fans that are passionate, confident, and bold, and it makes it easy for them to have fun, create, share, and stay connected."

BBM coming to iOS and Android this summer?

For iOS and Android users, BlackBerry also has great news, as it prepares to roll out the BlackBerry Messenger to other mobile OS this summer.

It seems that BlackBerry will be offering a cross-platform service for one of its most valuable services, the BBM, reports Digital Trends.

The BBM for other OS devices will feature BBMW chats with another person or a group, voice note sharing, and even access to BlackBerry Groups for file sharing.

Of course, the app will only come to the Google Play and the App Store if the two other giants allow for it to happen. The release date will most probably be announced once everything has been settled among BlackBerry, Apple, and Google.
