Linux users were banished from hell by gaming enterprise Blizzard due to allegations of cheating.
Linux users let out their disappointment on Blizzard's forum and Polygon about the wrongful and unfair accusations by the gaming giant. Blizzard, on the other hand, vehemently denied users claims.
The issue arises when a certain number of Linux users were permanently banned from the game simply because they were using an operating system that is not supported by the game. "We've extensively tested for false positive situations, including replicating system setups for those who have posted claiming they were banned unfairly. We've not found any situations that could produce a false positive, have found that the circumstances for which they were banned were clear and accurate, and we are extremely confident in our findings. Playing the game on Linux, although not officially supported, will not get you banned - cheating will," Bashiok wrote in a post.
This response angered many players who think that they are unfairly accused by Blizzard as cheaters. A Linux user shared that he was able to run Diablo 3 flawlessly until he received an email from Blizzard saying that his account is permanently banned from the game.
The email was a generic notice of account closure that explained the user was being banned for using third party unapproved software such as a cheat program or an automated program.
