‘Borderlands’ Characters Star In ‘Dance Central Spotlight’ As Dev Talks ‘Brothers In Arms’ Possibility
“Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel” may be getting some sweet new campaign via the latest DLC, Claptastic Voyage” this month. But it seems that Gearbox Software and 2K Australia has more plans for the franchise, particularly the characters.
Harmonix’s new title “Dance Central Spotlight,” which is coming to the Xbox One, will be seeing not one, but two playable characters from the Borderlands franchise. Polygon reports that the announcement came from the developer at the PAX East 2015 panel. Gearbox even confirmed the two playable characters as Nisha the Lawbringer and the beloved Claptrap, who will both be making an appearance in the latest game of the series.
According to the source, the two characters are unlockable via a cheat code of XXXXX or YYYYY typed on the character select screen. Obviously, Claptrap may not be the first choice for a dance title, given his physical capabilities. But considering that the crossover has already been planned and discussed between Neumann and Harmonix publicist Nick Chester since E3 2014, seeing Claptrap on the dance floor would be interesting.
“Borderlands” The Handsome Collection” is not the only title that Gearbox Software has in its mind. At the PAX East panel with Gearbox’s Mikey Neumann, it was revealed that “Brothers in Arms” is not dead—yet.
Even though the last title of the series was released back in 2008, titled “Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway,” the developer admitted that it never really got around to finish the story. And fans are not the only ones who are loving the series, as the team itself did mention that it wants to go back to the franchise.
However, according to GameSpot, this is far from a confirmation that another title in the series will come out in the near future. The last hint connected to the title was way back in 2011, where Gearbox and Ubisoft reportedy announced “Brothers in Arms: Furious 4.” Later on, it turned out to be an entirely new IP after a delay.
“We have nothing to announce,” said Neumann at PAX East, in relation to the possibility of “Brothers in Arms” being picked up again by the developer. “I certainly can’t announce anything.”
For those who are not playing “Dance Central Spotlight” or waiting for the possible “Brothers in Arms” title, there is something else to look forward to this month for the “Borderlands” series. IGN reports that the release date for the next chapter of “Tales from the Borderlands,” titled “Atlas Mugged,” will be coming on the third week of March. Details have already trickled in, with hints of a bigger role for Handsome Jack and an appearance by Scooter for the second episode.
