Bungie Reveals ‘Destiny’ The Dark Below Price, Date And PlayStation Exclusives
The long wait is over for "Destiny" fans as the promised expansion pack, The Dark Below, has finally been detailed by Bungie. The expansion pack has been dated for a Dec. 9 release, and it will take players to the surface of the moon and beyond.
In the new update from the developer,
there's a reference to the Hellmouth, a place that has recently been the talk of the town with "Destiny" players aiming to manage and survive a crossover. New story quests and ore weapons, armour and gear are expected to debut. There's also a new Strike and Raid co-op for Fireteams, as well as three more multiplayer arenas.
The Dark Below will also entice players to get back to the Tower where they will meet Eris who brings warnings about a god aiming to destroy the Earth as well as three new story missions to complete. Those looking for rewards will also be appeased as new weapons, armour and gear are aimed to bring up their Guardian to Light Level 32. The link above shows some screenshots of rewards and gears to expect.
The three Crucible arenas in The Dark Below are as follows:
- Pantheon: A temple on Mars where players have to work as a team to lock down primary lanes or alone to control the combat. It's a 6v6, 3v3 and Rumble approach that's supported by all modes.
- Skyshock: This is an arena with a risk versus reward, and the choice is left to the player. Players can use vehicles to clear a path or engage combat on foot in a six-against-six battle.
- The Cauldron: Previously a site for dark sacrifice, this arena will bring about close combat. Go in with a 6v6, 3v3 or Rumble setup using any mode.
That's quite the content for "Destiny," but it also comes at a rather steep price. According to Crave Online, The Dark Below is set at 19.99 GBP (36.49 AUD) in the U.K. and $20 (22.82 AUD) in the U.S. PS players can enjoy the added value of an exclusive Strike. Over at the PlayStation Blog, Bungie Community and Marketing Relations Manager Eric Osborne has shared that the developer's exclusive deal with Sony has allowed for this to happen.
"We're going to detail the Strike out in full in the weeks ahead, but we can confirm that PlayStation players will get access to an exclusive, cooperative Strike that takes place in the Black Garden, 'The Undying Mind' and more. We'll share more in-depth details very soon," Osborne said to PlayStation Blog.
