‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ vs. ‘Battlefield Hardline’: Ranks, Map and Easter Eggs Spotted
With less than two months of waiting before Sledgehammer Games' "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" launches, some of its multiplayer maps are slowly being showcased for fans.
IGN's first look delves into the Momentum multiplayer mode, which is a Tug of War game with the mission of capturing points in a row. According to the source, it takes away from the "War" mode of the likes of "Call of Duty 3" while taking kills into great account, as you need to kill more to get flags faster. Ranks and Prestige Levels Revealed for 'Advanced Warfare'
For those keeping track of what to expect for "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," another settled aspect of the title is the ranks and Prestige levels for the multiplayer segment. According to MP1st, Sledgehammer's Michael Condrey has already confirmed that there will be a 7th prestige symbol, 50 ranks and 15 prestige levels in total for the game.
If this is true, then the Prestige levels would be looking at an increase from the usual 10 to 15 this time around. The most recent update prior to this finding is that the developer is still in talks as to how many Prestige levels should be given for "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare."
Telling a Story Differently with 'Battlefield Hardline'
"Battlefield Hardline" may be looking at a delay for 2015, but that does not mean that the writers and developers are not hard at work with the title. Writer Tom Bissell shares bits of the story behind the writing done for "Battlefield Hardline," which interestingly had begun with doubts.
According to his post over at Battlefield Blog, Bissell has already found a few problems when it comes to military shooters, but this is also where it gets interesting-that "Battlefield Hardline" may be the big break that the franchise has really been waiting for. And it may go beyond just the change of setting and theme.
"The storytelling, he said, had one primary goal: People over plot," said Bissell over at the Battlefield Blog. What this means is that the next "Battlefield" game may be looking at 80% less exposition in terms of plot and being more dependent on how the characters act and who they are.
It seems that the writers are looking at "Battlefield Hardline" as a way to transform storytelling in gaming by introducing a new tone that's not as used in the industry. There's even a promise of Easter Eggs in conversations of even the smallest people like the guards and thugs in the game. If this does become a successful endeavour, "Battlefield Hardline" may serve as a pretty good way to revive the franchise into something more than the annual droll that some people have started to think it is.
