‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’ patch brings weapon tuning as game garners top sales
A new patch has arrived for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.” The settings update is the latest 33.18.20, and it brings a few weapon tweaks, game fixes and changes.
Treyarch has detailed the changes, as spotted by Charlie Intel. Five weapons have been nerfed, including Gorgon, XR-2, Pharo, VMP and Haymaker. Six, on the other hand, were buffed, namely the Razorback, HVK-30, Dingo, KRM-262, Argus and Locus. The changes do not appear to be major, most of the changes being edits to clip sizes to fit the damage ranges.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” has enjoyed a lot of support from fans, with sales reaching record highs since its release. Its opening sales came close to this year’s awaited hit “Fallout 4.” According to Newsweek, the two titles are pretty much the best-sellers in games as per their respective launches.
While “Fallout 4”saw higher sales within its first 24 hours of launch, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3” also made good headway into sales during its first 72 hours since opening. The title made $550 million during the 72 hours, but the source hinted that it will follow in the footsteps of its past iterations, to reach a $1 billion mark before the year comes to a close.
Interestingly, the sales of Treyarch’ latest shooter also reflect the audience that have started to shift to the next-gen versions of consoles. In Japan, there has been a considerable difference in the number of players who opted to get “Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3” on the PS4 and the PS3. DualShockers reported that the game sold a total of 166,000 copies of the game on the first week of its launch. Of these sales, 143,817 were on the PS4, while only 20,899 were recorded for the PS3. The rest was the Xbox One.
Granted, one of the reasons why players are opting for the next-gen version is the lack of campaign for the older versions. Due to the limited technology, the developer has had to remove some features, including the Weapon Paint Shop for customization, some eSport tools and Theater mode due to its 8GB size.
