Another season of “Castle” is barrelling towards its season finale. It is not yet confirmed whether there will a new season or not, but there is some information on the final episode of the current season. It is going to focus on Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) and Rick Castle’s (Nathan Fillion) mythology.
The final episode of “Castle” Season 7 will be a “compelling, high-stakes story-telling” that will focus on Beckett and Castle mythology, David Amann, showrunner of "Castle," recently told TV Line.
Meanwhile, speaking about the upcoming milestone episode, which is the 150th episode, the showrunner said that “Castle” writers are planning to make it a "buoyant, classic episode.” The episode 150 is episode 22, the penultimate episode of “Castle” Season 7.
“Castle” Season 7 opened with the intention to introduce a new mythology that revolves around Castle. His disappearance on his wedding day in Season 6 finale was part of this mythology. The initial episodes of Season 7 had some connection to Castle’s disappearance story, but since then, the writers seem to have forgotten all about Castle’s mythology. They are likely to revisit the mythology towards the end of the season, as episode 20 is expected to deal with the disappearance mystery.
After the 3XK mythology wrapped up, Amann had hinted about Beckett’s mythology in an interview with TV Line. Speaking about what ongoing mythologies are left to explore on the show, Amann said that Castle’s disappearance mystery is there and also “there are some other things that we’re going to be exploring later in the season, when we deal with some Beckett mythology.” He, however, did not reveal the details about Beckett’s mythology.
The upcoming episode 18, titled “At Close Range,” is a Ryan-centric episode. The episode will see Ricardo Chavira playing the role of a charismatic congressman, Alex Lopez. Reiko Aylesworth is playing his wife, Mia. The episode will also introduce Ryan’s (Seamus Dever) brother-in-law Frank, played by David Conrad, and his sister Gwen, played by Heather Mazur.
The episode will see Ryan on the security detail of the congressman, as part of his part-time job at his brother-in-law’s private security company. According to the synopsis of “At Close Range,” there is a shooting incident at a charity event that the congressman is attending. Ryan is going to be caught in the middle of this shooting incident, TV Line has reported.
