Warned by not one but most of the cast of HBO’s epic fantasy series “Game of Thrones,” fans of the show are not just expecting winter but a lot of dark stuff coming. Although a lot of cast members remained tight-lipped about “Game of Thrones” Season 5 premiere, Liam Cunningham warned some fans about what to expect for the upcoming season.

"This season is quite dark," Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) told PEOPLE. "There are a lot of characters on journeys in the show, they were going in one direction and now suddenly they are going somewhere completely different, but things come to a head and there's some really dark stuff coming."

Known for his role as Jamie Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau revealed that Cercei’s (Lena Headey) twin brother is mourning about his father’s passing. But on the other hand he is concerned about Kings Landing and very much aware of the immense danger now that the powerful Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) is no longer there.

“Game of Thrones” Season 5 will resume following the show’s shocking finale: Tyrion killed his father Tywin before embarking a journey with Varys, Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) finally got rid with The Hound and Stannis Baratheon came into the rescue to save The Wall and to help them fight the White Walkers.

Before the show returned to the small screen for its highly-anticipated Season 5 premiere, the ensemble cast of the show walked the red carpet on Wednesday, March 18, for “Game of Thrones” Season 5 world premiere. Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) joined his cast members Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy/Rick), Hannah Murray (Gilly), Rosabell Laurento-Seller (Tyene Sand) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark).

The cast of the popular series reunited at the Tower of London, a perfect location for the show’s global premiere with the tower known for its frightening history. England’s King Henry VIII had two of his wives beheaded at the prison of the tower and it’s the place where the War of the Roses divided England from 1455 to 1487.

“Game of Thrones” Season 5 premiere is set on April 12, Sunday on HBO. Check out the short clip featuring Tyrion and Varys courtesy of Game of Thrones.
