Cathriona White’s cause of death not yet revealed, investigation continues
Jim Carrey’s late girlfriend Cathriona White's cause of death is officially still a mystery, as reportedly the cause of her death has been deferred pending investigation.
White was found dead on Sept. 28 at her residence in Sherman Oaks, the Los Angeles County. A suicide note was found near her body. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said that there were bottles of pills found near White’s body, Entertainment Tonight reported. Some alleged prescription pills found near her body reportedly belonged to Carrey.
The Hollywood actor had an on and off relationship with White. In a statement after her death, he said, "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
White was reportedly married to cameraman Mark Burton at the time of her death, and her body was released to him. They got married on Jan. 14, 2013. The 30-year-old make-up artist, however, intended to file for divorce in December, E! News confirmed citing a source close to Carey.
"As far as Jim was concerned, Cat was separated from her husband. He would never have been out publicly with her if she was still with her husband and still married,” the source said.
On Saturday, White was buried beside her father’s tomb at her hometown in Ireland. Carrey attended the funeral service and was one of the pallbearers. White's friends also held a memorial service on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Shortly after the service, the actor posted a photo of himself and White gazing into each other’s eyes on his Twitter feed. “Love cannot be lost,” he wrote.
