Months after wrapping up his FX series “Sons of Anarchy,” Charlie Hunnam is now ready to let Jax Teller go as he moves on to play one of English literature's most iconic characters, King Arthur. The British actor recently revealed how he transitioned from his vest-wearing TV role to his his new fur-wearing character.

“Having to say goodbye to that character was really heartbreaking for me,” Hunnam told Elle Canada. “I have lost friends and family members before, and that feeling of bereavement -- although this wasn’t as intense -- it was that same feeling. I held it in my heart for about a month after filming ended. I said a lot of silent goodbyes to Jax, but ultimately there was no room left for him in my life, so I had to let him go.”

Currently in production for “Knights of the Rountable: King Arthur,” the 34-year-old Hollywood hunk revealed that he has to be in a great shape for his new role. King Arthur is known for his fighting and sword skills, and to play that iconic character he has to be in a fighting gym to prepare for the role.

Scheduled to open in summer 2016, “King Arthur” will take a new spin on the classic tale as the movie follows a young Arthur Pendragon who is unaware of the life he was born. But the life he knew will never be the same when he came in contact with the magical sword Excalibur. With the sword’s power, he will defeat the man behind his father’s death and to reclaim the throne stolen from him.

Hunnam will star alongside veteran actor Eric Bana (“Hulk”) as Uther Pendragon, Arthur’s father, and British actor Jude Law (“Sherlock Holmes”) as the tyrant Vortigern. To be directed by Guy Ritchie, “Knights of the Roundatble” is a reunion film for Ritchie and Law, and Law and Hunnam who both starred in “Cold Mountain” in 2003.

Other stars in the movie include “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tide” actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey as Arthur’s love interest Guinevere, “Blood Diamond” star Djimon Hounsou and “Game of Thrones” actor Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger) as Goosefat Bill. The epic adventure film was written by Joby Harold.
