WhatsApp for Web that was launched in January this year has been updated to include some mobile like features. At the time, when WhatsApp Web was launched, it offered only few basic features and received some minor improvements until now, according to reports.

However, the popular cross-platform messaging service has now added the most popular features of the mobile app, which enhances the users’ experience on desktops, reports Tech Times. As per the publication, users can now easily manage their conversations from their desktops and perform all other functions like changing their profile picture, editing status and more, just the way they do it from their mobile device.

According to a report on Android Police, to edit the profile photo and status, users just have to hover over their photo until they get an option to change it and in order to change the status, users can go to the edit icon that appears next to the “Status.”

Users can also avail the options to delete and archive one-on-one chats along with archiving, muting or exiting group chats, which are available in the left conversation list, when users fluctuate around them or right click them. The update also gets keyboard shortcuts for each action, but its sporadic appearance indicates that this feature is still being worked upon, noted Android Police. As per the publication, the contact and group info panes have also received a minor update in the form of new big red buttons that will enable users to delete chats or exit from any group and groups allow users to change their status and icon.

WhatsApp, currently, has 800 million monthly active users across the world and it is plans to come up with more additions to compete with other instant messaging services like WeChat, Hike and Line, reports Mobiletor. WhatsApp for Web is compatible with Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Android, Nokia, BlackBerry or Windows phone users will have to install the latest version of the app on their handsets. There is no information on the service’s compatibility with iOS devices, as per the Mobiletor report.
