Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will unlikely sign any striker this winter as he is quite sure that long-time target Wayne Rooney will be joining him at Stamford Bridge, come summer.

The Portuguese has been a long-time suitor of the 28-year-old, which dates back to his time at Real Madrid. After rejoining the Blues last summer, he immediately rekindled his interest in the Manchester United forward, only to see his bids get rejected anew.

However, the coming summer will be a different story as Rooney's contract will be entering its final year by then, coupled with the fact that United are struggling with form because of the change in management as well as the club's failure to make big-name signings.

And while it is still too early to predict the Red Devils' fortunes, Chelsea are looking to be the more stable team in the coming years.

The "special one" may be able to get away with a more reasonable price to acquire the England international because of the attending circumstances, but given his resources at Chelsea, other options like Radamel Falcao, Gonzalo Higuain, and Diego Costa are never out of the picture.
