Classic RPG ‘Ys Chronicles 1’ Now Available On iOS And Android

Fans of classic RPGs are in for a treat as game developer DotEmu has released “Ys Chronicles 1” for iOS and Android devices. “Ys Chronicles 1” is an updated remake of the first “Ys” game, with more detailed combat and redone dialogue to make it more believable. This version was previously released for the PC and PlayStation Portable.

Many fans know the “Ys” series for its gorgeous art design and its unique gameplay. Unlike other Japanese RPGs at the time that relied on turn-based combat, “Ys” instead relied on a unique battle system that had the lead character bumping into enemies to cause damage. While other games in the series have gone for a more traditional action RPG combat system, “Ys Chronicles 1” will retain its unique bumping mechanic.

A report from Siliconera has confirmed that “Ys Chronicles 1” isn’t just a straight up port of the previous versions, as developer DotEmu has added some exclusive new features for mobile gamers. For one thing, players will be able to change the graphical style of the game from the “Chronicles” version to the original version. The same feature can also be done for the soundtrack of the game, giving the title a very classic feel to it.

Pocket Gamer has also confirmed that DotEmu has also added achievements to the game, so players will be able to feel satisfaction from doing certain actions. The game will also have hints to help players who are having a hard time as well as inexperienced gamers who haven’t had any prior experience to the “Ys” games.

With the bumping combat mechanic is kept for this game, many will be happy to know that “Ys Chronicles 1” will only have one virtual button for movement, with no other buttons to clutter the screen. The game also has controller support for both iOS and Android versions, with Android gamers having the option to play “Ys Chronicles 1” on their NVIDIA Shield or Android TV.
