Coach Robbie Deans has agreed to stay with Wallabies in the next two years after signing a contract to work with the team until 2013.

Citing the report from the Sydney Morning Herald, TVNZ said that Deans has extended its contract with the Wallabies for two more years, noting that the move has upset earlier hopefuls that the great coach would have handled the All Blacks rugby team of New Zealand.

The extension of the contract was offered to Dean by Wallabies’ boss, John O’Neil, allowing him to have the full control of the Australian rugby team for the British and Irish Lions tour in 2013.

Reports have it that a clause in the newly signed contract indicates that Deans could also be extended for another two years in time for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Deans has been coaching Wallabies since 2007 after the disastrous rugby World Cup campaign, forcing the team to get a coach from outside its own backyard.

His score card noted TVNZ may not show great results after managing to win 24 of 53 tests and has beaten All Blacks only twice after twelve attempts. But Wallabies’ boss, O’Neil has expressed confidence on Deans as the right man for the job after winning over All Blacks in Hongkong and a record win over France in Paris.

Deans is a former All Blacks fullback and had guided the Crusaders to five Super Rugby titles between 2000 and 2008. Deans is the first foreign coach to handle a rugby team.
