Confirmed Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Barney Purple; Apple’s Siri Loses Beta; China’s Oppo N1 Official Images
Colourful smartphones and devices seem to be a hit now among users, as more brands are introducing more pantones into their variants, as evident with the iPhone 5C's five different-coloured handsets and case covers.
With Samsung, it first introduced a new colour variant in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with the pink device beside the standard black and white. However, the Korean manufacturer has also introduced another coloured device, this time for the gigantic Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3.
A purple variant, much in the shade of everyone's lovable dinosaur Barney, is now an official device that you can have yourself. First seen by Unwired View, the only catch is that this device is only available in the Samsung Hong Kong Web site, at least for now.
The only difference with the Barney version and the standard version is the colour, as the announced specs, 6.3-inchd hi-res display, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, 8-megapixel rear and 1.9-megapixel front cameras, and 1,7gHz Snapdragong 400 processor with 1.5GB of RAM and 3200 mAh battery are all available in the new version.
Siri becomes official, no more beta
With the iOS 7 slated for unveiling this month, Siri will finally get out of its beta stage after a major upgrade in the new OS, and be introduced as the most ideal iDevice companion that understands what you say and responds accordingly.
According to the revamped Siri page on the AppleWeb site:
"Siri lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is so easy to use and does so much, you'll keep finding more and more ways to use it."
Some of the new functions that Siri can do today include searching Twitter, Wikipedia, and Bing. You also have the option of changing the voice gender to male or female, and have three language options, English, French, or German, reports 9 to 5 Mac.
Other features that you can look forward to is a redesigned interface, fixes for server errors and lagging processing times, and new functions. The upgrade comes at a very opportune time, as rumours brewing of Microsoft creating its own Siri-like voice assistant, in the form of Cortana, who hails from Microsoft's Halo series of games.
