Duchess Kate Middleton Wants Longer Maternity Leave Too
Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is said to have a longer maternity leave this time around with her second baby. She allegedly felt her maternity leave after she delivered Prince George was too short.
Kate Middleton reportedly wants more time with her newborn. According to a source close to the Royal family, Kate told her friends she would not immediately return to her duties and would probably stay out of the spotlight longer this time around compared with the time she delivered Prince George.
She wants to have a longer bonding experience with her two children, the source says. "She felt she came back too soon last time," the royal source told People magazine. "She wants to have that [family] and enjoy it with George and the new baby."
When she delivered Prince George on July 2013, Kate was back working on her royal duties after barely two months. The source added that because they now reside in their huge country home at Anmer Hall, raising two kids is much more conducive. Kate reportedly wants that opportunity to be a hands-on mom during the new baby’s early months, especially since Prince William will work as an air ambulance pilot once his training ends in early summer. Anmer Hall is near William’s workplace, so he can easily spend time with his family as well.
This does not mean Kate is forgetting all about her royal duties, however. Right before she took a break from her duties in anticipation of her nearing due date, Kate committed herself to highlighting the difficulties that children with mental health issues face after she gives birth. It has been her personal advocacy to see children with mental issues be taken seriously and given help. Her work during the Children’s Mental Health Week showed how passionate she was over the issue. So engrossed was she with her royal duties that she even once shared she forgets she is a pregnant lady.
