EB Games announces 'WWE 2K16' special edition, exclusive to Australia
Australian retailer EB Games has announced a special edition of “WWE 2K16” which seems to be exclusive to Australian audiences. The special edition of the pro-wrestling simulator includes a metal case for the game, a season pass and a Funko Pop figure of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Since the game’s showcase mode focuses on Steve Austin, it makes sense that the special edition would also be about him.
What’s particularly noteworthy about the special edition is the inclusion of a season pass, which confirms that there will be downloadable content, or DLC, for “WWE 2K16.” It should also be noted that it is called a season pass and not a “Showcase” season pass like in last year’s game, which might mean that the pass will include all of the game’s DLC.
Last year’s “WWE 2K15” season pass only included the game’s downloadable stories and not the rest of the content such as the extra wrestlers and moves. Fans weren’t happy about that and it seems like 2K Games listened to them, as it seems like this year’s pass will rectify last year’s faults.
The inclusion of a “Stone Cold” Funko Pop figure makes this special edition of the game similar to last year’s “Hulkamania” edition of “WWE 2K15.” A report from Product Reviews stated that there was supposed to be another “Hulkamania” edition for U.S. gamers, but it was cancelled due to Hogan’s recent firing from the company.
It was also confirmed that there would be no special edition of “WWE 2K16” coming to North America or Europe this year. This can be considered odd, since there was one last year for both countries.
Whatever version gamers get, they will be having the largest roster ever seen in a "WWE" video game. There will reportedly be 120 unique character models, so fans won’t see three John Cenas or four Randy Ortons.
“WWE 2K16” is solicited for an Oct. 27 release for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Australian fans will be able to get the special edition of the game on Oct. 29 for their console of choice. Those who pre-order the game will also be able to play as the Terminator from the hit movies.
