Earlier this week, news broke out that Alex Pettyfer shot an exclusive sex scene with director Gus Van Sant. Was this a scene for a sequel to "Magic Mike?" Apparently, this racy scene had nothing to do with "Magic Mike" but with another film that has got a lot of fans waiting in anticipation. The latest news is that Alex Pettyfer has already been confirmed as Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." How true are the rumours?

Everyone in the "Fifty Shades" fandom is dying for an official announcement for a cast in the film. Universal Studios and Focus Features have yet made such an announcement given a director is still to be hired. As for the script, scriptwriter Kelly Marcel is currently working on it. Thus, it would be obvious that a casting for Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele and all other important roles are far off schedule.

Of course, this has not hindered E.L. James' fans from coming up with countless lists naming potential actors and actresses that could nab the role of Christian and Ana. For the past few months, a few favourites for the roles of Christian and Ana have arisen. Ian Somerhalder has been the fan favourite for Grey while Emilia Clarke the favourite for Ana Steele.

However, it looks as if the fan favourites won't have any chance at getting cast at all. Another rumour down the grapevine has it that a Christian has already been cast and it would be none other than "Magic Mike" star, Alex Pettyfer.

This of course caused fans of "Fifty" to go on a frenzy. Did this mean that Alex Pettyfer was indeed cast as Christian Grey?

Well, fans of E.L. James erotica novel should fret not because all this talk that Pettyfer had been confirmed for the role of Grey is a lie. Universal Studios and Focus Features had already released a statement claiming casting has not been underway nor has a director been chosen. As for demo tapes sent in for a chance to direct the film, the production studio has never and will never accept such schemes.
