The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 was launched in several Asian markets in September. However the recent news is that, the handset will be released in the U.S. starting October 24 and AT&T will be selling the device. It is worth noting that the Mega 2 is the successor of the 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega smartphone released in 2013. Understandably, the original Mega handset is out of stock in AT&T right now, giving way to the successor.

Apparently, there are quite a few ways customers can pay for the huge smartphone. The Galaxy Mega 2 is priced at $149.99 with a two-year contract. In addition, the device can also be purchased for $474.99 without a contract. Upon choosing AT&T's Next 18 or Next 12 options, the Mega 2 will set the buyers back by $19.80 per month and $23.75 per month respectively, reports Phone Arena.

The new Galaxy Mega 2 is relatively smaller when compared to the 6.3-inch 2013 Mega handset. This device features a 6-inch display complemented by 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution and 245 ppi pixel density. The handset runs on Android v4.4.3 (KitKat) OS with Samsung TouchWiz UI. Also, the phone supports one-handed operation, multi window, Private Mode and even the latest Ultra Power Saving M. Meanwhile, the Ultra Power Saving Mode allows users to receive phone calls and text messages for up to 24 hours with only a 10 percent battery charge, says AT&T.

Other than the standard connectivity options, the Mega 2 also supports LTE and NFC. Moving on to the camera configuration, the handset sports an 8 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash and 4X Zoom, in addition to a 2.1 MP front-facing shooter for selfies. The smartphone is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and backed by a good 1.5 GB of RAM. Moreover, the Samsung device offers 16 GB of internal storage capacity with microSD card support for expansion up to 64 GB. Speaking of size, the handset is 0.34-inch thick and weighs a whopping 194 g. Lastly, the phone comes equipped with a modest 2800 mAh battery unit.
