Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update, previously announced by the French carrier SFR this January, is nowhere to be found with release dates still up in the air.

In December, SFR confirmed the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. At that time, the confirmation was made despite Samsung itself had not announced anything about the Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates.

However, SFR's announcement fit with another leak suggesting that Samsung was aiming for an Android 4.4 KitKat update in January. Many SFR users are anticipating the carrier's update of the release date of the Android upgrade.

The update was recently released but unfortunately, it does not feature Android 4.4 KitKat release date update for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. In its alternative, the only Samsung device cited is the Galaxy S3 to have Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

The reason the updates failed to show up as scheduled remains unclear. SFR has no official statement about this yet.

At this point, it is safe to assume that SFR will not be able to keep its promise and it is likely that the company is not planned for January release. It may have a February roll out instead. It is also likely that Samsung intervened and made SFR take down the information.

According to SamMobile, known for its software leaks, there might be an Android 4.4 KitKat update for a model number which appears as Galaxy S4. The Web site teased a benchmark for the GT- I9505, which is a model of the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 will likely receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update first, then the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 will follow sometime in April.
