What’s done has been done, Philip Bramley, father of 27-year-old son Paul, one of the victims of the Germanwings 4U9525 crash, said. Whatever motive that pushed co-pilot Andreas Lubitz is no longer relevant because it’s already over. What global airlines must now do, he said, is to make sure the incident "never happens again.”

Speaking at a memorial near the crash site in the French Alps, Bramley told Sky News that Lubitz’ mental condition as cause was now “irrelevant” after he had allegedly downed the aircraft 'deliberately' that led to the death of 150 onboard. Hinting that he and his family would like to move on after the heart-breaking tragedy, he said the culpability rests on the global airline companies.

“I believe the airlines should be more transparent and our finest pilots looked after properly. We put our lives and our children's lives in their hands,” Bramley said. “What is relevant, is that it should never happen again; my son and everyone on that plane should not be forgotten, ever. I don't want it to be forgotten, ever.”

He also called on the involved governments to work to regain the once beautiful reputation of the French Alps and its surrounding villages. “I want to see this cloud over this town lifted and the natural beauty be restored and not to be remembered by the action of a single person.”

The younger Bramley was one of three Britons flying back to Britain after a holiday with friends. The other passengers were 75 Germans and at least 50 Spanish.

Aviation experts said all airline workers are required to undergo annual checks. Although stringent, such mainly focus on physical health. Tests related to determine a pilot’s mental state are usually only done once, usually before companies admit them and have them undergo a training program.

Over the weekend, Lubitz’ former girlfriend said he had been displaying erratic behaviour, which prompted her to break off with the young pilot. She claimed he had been allegedly planning it for a year now. Although he never shared his plans to her, these would be revealed to her through his nightmares.
