Google Attempts To Lure Users To Email Apps By Rolling Out New Themes And Emojis
Google introduced tons of new themes for Gmail that will allow users to customize their inbox with color palette, background images and new emojis.
As per Google, after the introduction of the latest update, Gmail now gets hundreds of new themes that includes high resolution themes. Users will not only be able to add their own custom images but will also find new editing options for themes like blur, vignette and text background, enabling users to customize any theme of their choice. Google also mentioned in its blog post that ‘Themes’ have been an important part of Gmail since 2008 as they let users dress up their inbox and make it easier for them to distinguish between home and work accounts.
According to a report on Tech Crunch, the expansion of the themes section is noteworthy because for over a long time, Google has not done enough to keep the collection current with updated content.
Besides expanding the themes section, Google has also added better emojis to its web-based email that includes a set of smileys and other categories like nature, holidays, food and other emojis found in mobile texting apps. With the roll out of customizable themes and emojis, Google makes an attempt to lure more users who are shifting their focus on mobile messaging apps to send short notes to friends and this could be the biggest reason affecting Gmail’s adoption among young users in future.
Emojis have become popular for it provides the ability to communicate on mobile devices where typing on smaller screens is difficult. By supporting modern emojis, Google is trying to keep its email service mobile friendly, reports Tech Crunch.
As per the publication, the new themes and emojis will arrive on the web on June 30 but the roll out will be completed in few days.
