Rival companies Google and Microsoft are expected to battle head on not only in the software market but as well as in the hardware market as they both release their own tablets.

Few days after tech giant Apple unveiled its new line of tablets, Microsoft countered it with its flagship device in New York last week.

Microsoft has launched its much anticipated Windows 8 operating system and first tablet device, the Surface with Windows RT and Windows 8 Pro versions.

The screens measure in at 10.6-inches with resolutions of 1366 x 768 for the Surface with Windows RT and 1920 x 1080 for the Surface Pro. Despite that win in size, the Surface twins are heavier than the iPad, about 1.5 for the Windows RT version vs. 1.44 pounds for Apple's slate. The Windows 8 Pro model is nearly 2 pounds.

Google countered these devices with its own set of hardware, which the company announced via blog post. One of the devices announced by the company is its latest 10-inch full size tablet - Nexus 10.

According to the blog post, Nexus 10 will sport a 10.055 inches screen display with 2560x1600 pixel resolution. Moreover, it comes with a powerful battery that will get you up to nine hours of video playback and more than 500 hours of standby time.

One of the selling points of the device is that it will run with the upcoming Android v4.2 Key Lime Pie. Knowing Google, the successor of Jelly Bean will promise smooth and fun experience to the users. Google's tablet is expected to battle head on with other devices in the market such as Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1.
