Google’s release date plans for the Nexus 2015 appears to be shaping up as the device’s rumoured base-model, the LG G4, is reportedly confirmed for a May 31 outing. Following that day next month, preparations for the Motorola Nexus 6 sequel is expected to shift into full swing.

South Korea’s LG has revealed that the G4 will start retailing on May 31, according to GSM Arena. The same report indicated that the device availability might be initially limited to LG’s home base following its global launch on April 28.

There was no mention in the same report on when the other markets will get a taste of the upcoming Android flagship but the new development further stirred up excitement among Nexus fans. It is widely believed that the G4 is geared to the repurposed Google signature phone so the thought of it finally hitting the market in a matter of few weeks points to the next Nexus smartphone coming soon.

A solid Nexus 2015 pattern

The G4, like LG’s previous flagship models, fires up the Android crowd as the specs and features unveiled so far effectively define a very capable device. LG has underscored that the G4 5.5-inch display that makes use Quad HD technology is cut above the rest.

And in the latest teaser of the handset, its maker focused on the things that users can be accomplished with the LG G4 shooter. Apart from the G4 camera’s hardware prowess that leads to the production of high-quality pictures and videos, the phone allows users to perform tweaks that will only enhance the camera shooting experience.

For instance, the G4 camera manual mode opens up the system’s shutter speed and ISO for certain amount of reconfigurations with the end goal of capturing top-notch clips and images, according to Android Central.

But the best thing about the LG G4 is the likelihood that it is being seriously considered by Google to become the company’s signature phone this 2015. This is based on earlier rumours that suggested Google and LG are in discussion to collaborate for the next Nexus flagship. If true then LG would likely pick the G4 as the best mould available just like it did then the company built the Nexus 4 and 5 – all based on LG’s flagships at the time of release.

Next Nexus build, specs and features

The Nexus 2015, however, may not be entirely built around the LG G4 only as recent reports showed that a number of specs for the device could prove disappointing – both to Google and pure Android fans. The casing is said to be of plastic material and the main engine is the not-so-powerful Snapdragon 808.

If only to make sure that the Nexus 2015 can compete squarely with upcoming flagships this year, like the Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the device might end up showcasing the best G4 features and those of LG’s second flagship – the rumoured LG G4 Note. The G4 Note is tipped to show off a fusion of metallic and glass housing plus the latest Snapdragon chip (probably the 820) come rollout time.

But the confirmation to all of these will only come following the Nexus 2015 release date, which normally happens during the year’s holiday season. That would be between October and November this year.
