The Google Nexus 4 has received acclaim for being one of the most sought after smartphones of its class. And yet a follow-up to this device is still to be officially announced, though the latest leak seems to point to LG being the manufacturer once again.

Only the back cover of the latest leak was provided for by a Dutch source as reported by Phone Arena, and the white version of the phone seems to be taking its design from LG's own flagship phone, the G2.

With nothing yet confirmed with Google's next phone following the successful Nexus line, fans have come up with concept videos or compilations of leaks and rumours, just to get started on the speculations behind the possibly new device.

An octagonal shape, X marks the Nexus spot

Whether it's to serve as a possible differentiator for what is already in existence in the market today or just to give standard smartphones a makeover, there have been concept videos that dabble with having an octagonal shape.

For this concept video, you can see the Google Nexus 5 having eight instead of four sides, as the four corners have been edged out to create an almost polygonal device.

While it will not be a major leap in terms of design-save of course, the very thin bezels seen on the concepts-it does put the Google Nexus on a different look from the likes of the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

But what is even more surprising would be the massive, Google rainbow X that can be seen at the back of the phone. Previously, this kind of branding from Google was also seen in a concept video for the Google Nexus 7 tablet.

Granted, there are no outrageous brandings on the Nexus 7, but you have to wonder if moves like these, even in concept videos, are meant to create a sharp distinction from its predecessor.

Edge-to-edge display to battle iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The bigwigs, Samsung and Apple, have been constantly trying to one-up each other in terms of the smartphone design, and one of these innovations have often included the possibility of edge-to-edge display.

This concept video features Bob Freking's almost edge-to-edge display, which has very thin bezels at the sides. This Google Nexus 5 concept has a 5-ich 1080 x 1920 True IPS+ Display, 1.9 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU, a 13-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera, latest version of the Android, and starts at $299 for a 16GB version.

For those who have seen a previous leak from @evleaks, the concept shares the overall design, with the difference lying mostly in the display screen, which puts it at a whopping 5.5-inch. The leak also details the device to have the Snapdragon 600 processor.

Both concept videos are depicting a 5-inch or more display screen, something that Google has not really been dabbling with. In fact, even Google's latest phone, the Moto X with partner Motorola, was revealed to only have a 4.7-inch display screen.

Does this mean Google is finally going the bigger screen route to battle with its competitiors?

Wish list for the LG Google Nexus 5

The success of the Google Nexus 4 has pretty much put it on high regard, and now fans may be expecting a similar innovative product.

This concept video showcases a lot of the wish list features, including a 5.2-inch OLED display that has Full HD capacity, 2.3 GHz quad-core processor, and 3GB of RAM.

Codenamed Megalodon, this device is supposedly pegged for an October release date, which will be in time for Apple's reveal of the much awaited iPhone 5S or iPhone 6.

Other features include three options for storage including 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. It also features a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera, both of which are enabled for 1080p video recording, as well as integrated DVB-T antenna for TV capacity.

The features are pretty advanced and certain next-gen for the likes of the Google Nexus 5, but considering that the improvements made for the Google Nexus 7 2, it may not be a very farfetched idea.
