Google is now working on the third generation Nexus 7 (2016) tablet and has partnered with Huawei to build it. This follows the release of Google Nexus 7 (2012) and (2013) editions that weren’t immediately followed-up by a third generation tablet.

In 2014, Google worked with HTC to release the large-sized Nexus 9 tablet. The tablet that arrived with Android 5.0 Lollipop was released alongside Nexus 6 built by Motorola. This year, however, Google chose to partner with Chinese smartphone maker Huawei to build its Nexus 6P smartphone. Word is both companies are collaborating to release Nexus 7 (2016) tablet, according to G for Games.

It’s not difficult to predict the Nexus 7 (2016) will have a 7-inch screen. Currently, there are no concrete details available on the specs of the rumored tablet.

Huawei might not be a well-known brand in the U.S. and Europe, but it’s the largest smartphone manufacturer in its home country of China. Its partnership with Google to build the Nexus 6P has certainly helped the company promote itself to Western markets. The alleged Nexus 7 (2016) tablet will also allow Huawei to establish its name in the U.S and Europe.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 and the Huawei MediaPad X2 tablets released earlier this year feature the in-house Kirin 930 SoC. The Chinese company released its new flagship smartphone, Huawei Mate 8, with the latest Kirin 950 chipset that consists of an octa-core processor. It features a 6-inch full HD screen along with 3 GB of RAM for the 32 GB edition and 4 GB of RAM for the 64 GB edition.

The Google Nexus 7 (2016) could come with flagship features. Hence, the buzz also indicates Huawei may power the Nexus 7 (2016) with the Kirin 950 chipset, International Business Times reported.
