Google Pixel & Pixel XL release date, news & update: New reports tease Android 7.1 Nougat operating system
Google’s Nexus line of devices may soon be replaced by the Pixel line of smartphones. Google Pixel and Pixel XL are said to succeed Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. HTC will be handling the Pixel smartphones.
Some reports suggest that the smartphones Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be released on Oct. 4 and the company will start taking pre-orders in the US the same day the Pixel and Pixel XL are revealed.
As per GSMArena, the Google Pixel smartphones passed through Geekbench and were certified. The phones are said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processors. The processors may be revised later. They are expected to sport a 4GB RAM and run on Android 7.1, which is a new version of the Nougat system.
The Global Certification Forum (GCF) confirmed that HTC will be making the Pixel and Pixel XL smarthphones despite the Google branding. The phones are expected to come in two versions, International and US. Some leaked images showed a 5.2-inch Pixel and 5.5-inch Pixel XL casing with a very wide hole for the camera.
Both Google Pixel and Pixel XL look very similar with only a difference in size. Dual cameras are a trend these days though nothing is known if the Pixel smartphones will sport dual cameras. The Home Screen button may be omitted too. Recent leaks have showcased black and white variants, reports phoneArena. The white version showcases a physical Home Button just below the display.
A 5,100 mAh battery, Quick Charge 3.0 support, Android 7.0 Nougat OS and USB Type-C port are some features that Google Pixel and Pixel XL are expected to sport. The smartphones may sport 2560 x 1440 pixels and 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution and may come with a 13MP rear camera with some incredible features and high-advanced functions. There are still no reports as regards the price of Google Nexus 7 2016.
Google is still tight-lipped about its Pixel smartphones. Many expect the company will surprise fans with top features and some never-seen-before specs. This should be the case as dropping an entire line of smartphones along with their branding and introducing a new line is no small task.
