GoPro reveals new $200 HERO+ camera
GoPro, Inc. on Monday rolled out the latest addition to its action camera lineup, the budget-friendly HERO+ priced at $200.
The California-based company talked about the salient capabilities of the new camera in its blog post. HERO+ is a Wi-Fi enabled action camera packed with convenient tools like a Trim and Share feature that allows its users to easily create short video clips to share any social media platform of choice.
HERO+ is easily wearable and mountable, and it is compatible with GoPro’s array of accessories and mounts. It also has Bluetooth connection, which is another option that allows its users to immediately connect to the GoPro mobile app.
“Even as we continue to raise the bar for our highest performing cameras like Hero 4 Black, Silver and Session, we remain committed to developing simplified products like Hero+ that make GoPro life-capture accessible to everyone”, said GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman.
HERO+ features also include sports 1080P60 and 720P60 video resolutions; 8 megapixel photos;time lapse and burst photo mode; a built-in microphone; SuperView wide-angle; Auto Low Light video modes and recording with QuikCapture. There’s also a HiLight tagging of key moments.
GoPro shares have been on the rocks lately, reported Forbes. There is speculation that Apple is set to release its own action camera, which may place more downward pressure on GoPro’s stock prices. GoPro lost almost $20 million during the second quarter of last year.
It recovered, somewhat, with the release of its HERO4 Session. Along with announcing HERO+, GoPro also said it’s slashing $100 off the current price of the compact and waterproof HERO4 Session.
HERO+ will be available at authorized global retailers and on GoPro’s website starting October 4.
