“Gotham” Season 2 is looking to hire actors to play two new villains in the Fox series. Meanwhile, series developer Bruno Heller dished teasers on the Joker arc for the show’s sophomore edition.

Spoiler alert: This update contains “Gotham” Season 1 spoilers. Read on at your own risk if you have not seen the first season finale.

According to TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich, “Gotham” Season 2 will feature a male villain who is “intelligent, cultured and highly articulate.” A female villain will also be introduced, and she is “a sexy knock-out.” The two new villains have yet to be named, but the report indicated these are villains from the DC Comics universe, just like Joker, Penguin, Selina, Alfred and Bruce Wayne himself.

It remains to be seen whether “Gotham” Season 2 will have an original character like Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith). Fish appears to have fallen to her death in the finale episode of the first season. Bruno Heller explained to Deadline that Mooney being out of the picture is necessary to propel Penguin into a really powerful position.

"She's such a domineering, powerful, imperious person that Penguin can't possibly be the crime lord in Gotham while Fish is around, especially if she has anything to say about it," Heller told Deadline.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in another interview, Heller said “Gotham” Season 2 is going to be about Joker. The show boss said the second season will show the development of Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), who killed his own mother in Season 1.

Fans of “Gotham” are also waiting to find out what happens next to Barbara (Erin Richards) and Lee (Morena Baccarin). The latter now knows Barbara killed her own parents, and she was proud about it. The Ogre (Milo Ventimiglia) unleased a monster in Barbara. It appears there is no turning back for her.
