'Gotham' Season Finale Spoilers: Jada Pnkett-Smith Set To Depart, Fish Mooney Goes Out With Her
Does Fish Mooney crash out and die in a big way in the last few episodes of “Gotham?” The new FOX series is in the home stretch of its first season and one of the most pivotal characters in the series may be bowing out since actress Jada Pinkett-Smith has only agreed to stay on board for one season. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]
Pinkett-Smith plays Fish Mooney, one of the characters that was only made specifically for the series. “Gotham” is a prequel based on the wildly popular “Batman” franchise and many of the characters are familiar names taken out of the comic books and other previous “Batman” films.
Fish Mooney is a life-hardened criminal mastermind who has worked her way up the ranks in Gotham City’s mafia underworld. She has played a big part in main character Jim Gordon’s progression as an effective police officer and detective.
With the season coming to a close, will Fish Mooney die? This appears to be the case if Pinkett-Smith goes through with her initial plans. “We're done. I did my year and I had a good time,” she told Extra during an interview last month.
Pinkett-Smith also shares that her character will be going through some major twists and turns towards the season finale. With only two episodes left to go, it won’t be long before Fish Mooney’s fate will be revealed.
In episode 19, Mooney staged a daring attempt to escape the clutches of Dr. Dulmacher A.K.A. “The Dollmaker.” She has been stuck in a fortress that he built in a private island where he experiments with human bodies, turning them into Frankenstein-like creations.
Mooney outsmarted the guards and managed to get herself in the cockpit of a helicopter along with a group of other hostages. As they were flying out, she gets shot in the stomach by a sharp-shooting guard. The episode ended without revealing what happened to her and the helicopter.
Episode 20 deviated from Mooney’s storyline and focused more on Jim Gordon’s pursuit of the “Ogre” played by guest star Milo Ventimiglia. Bruce Wayne is also deep into his investigation of Wayne Enterprises and its employees.
With only two episodes remaining, it remains to be seen how Mooney will go out with all guns blazing. “Gotham” airs every Monday night at 9 pm on FOX.
