Gotye was the most outstanding artist during the APRA Music Awards as he took three major prizes home. These include the most coveted APRA Song of the Year for 'Somebody That I Used To Know.'

The awards night happened at the Parkside Ballroom of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre. He also won Songwriter of the Year and Most Played Australian Work. His hit song became number one for a total of 11 countries around the world.

Last April, Wally De Backer, or famously known as 'Gotye,' became the first Aussie artist following Savage Garden in 2000 to have ranked number one at the US charts.

It seems that from then on, the accolades cannot be stopped from raining his way. Even at present, there are some tips that he also might win the APRA award for Most Played Australian Work Overseas by 2013. For 2012, this award went to AC/DC for their work on 'Highway to Hell.'

During Gotye's acceptance speech, he expressed more of his surprise for the attention that his song has been getting from many across the globe. He even apologized to the majority for having to listen to the song over and over again through commercial radio.
