The latest entry in Microsoft’s “Halo” franchise is currently one of the best games in the series. Aside from numerous testimonies and reviews about the overall appeal of “Halo 5: Guardians,” there are also several feats that further prove the success of the title.

Just a few days since its release, “Halo 5: Guardians” has already become the most successful Xbox One exclusive. The game debuted at record-breaking sales with more than US$500 million (AU$560 million) in hardware and software.

In a post on the official website of Microsoft’s Xbox, the company noted that the game broke the record for the biggest launch of any “Halo” title and is also the fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive on opening week. Overall, the franchise has generated more than US$5 billion (AU$7 billion) in profit.

“The success of Halo 5: Guardians is a testament to the innovative work from the entire team at 343 Industries to bring this installment to Xbox One and the incredible community of fans who have come to love the story, characters and gameplay central to the franchise,” said Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox. He added that “the game represents all the possibilities of Xbox One and has earned its place as the anchor title in the greatest holiday games lineup in Xbox history.”

“Halo 5: Guardians” has also achieved several other milestones. The most notable of these is the over 21 million hours of total gameplay achieved by players, which includes 12 million hours spent in campaign and 9 million in multiplayer.

Aside from the stated feats, “Halo 5: Guardians” also broke the Guinness World Record for most watched video game broadcast, Metro UK reports. It beat the new James Bond film “Spectre” in the UK in terms of sales.
