Happy 35th Birthday Charlie Hunnam: A Tribute To Hollywood's Newest Leading Man
Best known for his bad*ass roles and bad boy charisma, Charlie Hunnam is never been hotter and more confident as a leading man as he turns 35 today. After seven long years in the small screen, the “Sons of Anarchy” lead star is finally making his way to the big screen playing the titular role of King Arthur in Guy Ritchie’s “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur.”
With a few big films under his belt, Hunnam is slowly making his way to be considered as an A-list actor joining the ranks of Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Bradley Cooper. The 35-year-old star famously dropped the role of Christian Grey in “Fifty Shades of Grey” last year which could have been a big disaster for his career.
But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as he landed the lead role in Ritchie’s remake of the Arthurian legend. Now currently in production for “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur,” the upcoming movie is Hunnam’s first lead role after wrapping up his biker drama series in December. The actor’s last big film was in Guillermo del Toro’s science fiction monster film “Pacific Rim.”
When asked about the actor’s personality, the “Hellboy” director revealed that Hunnam has very “transparent decency” and has a “good-guy aura” which for him is very hard to simulate.
"If the audience is engaged in the story, it can only be through the character of Raleigh because he's the hero, he's the guy who transcends his own limitations and steps up when no one else has the tools," “Pacific Rim” co-star Ron Perlman told USA Today on Hunnam’s portrayal of Raleigh Becket. "With Charlie, you're going to get a guy who'll give you the look and dedication and skill set you need to pull that off."
Meanwhile, Hunnam is also set to play Col Percival Fawcett, a real life British explorer in Brad Pitt’s true-life drama “The Lost City of Z.” The blond star replaced “Sherlock” actor Benedict Cumberbatch for the lead role as he is due to topline Marvel’s “Doctor Strange.” Other actors in the movie include “American Sniper” actress Sienna Miller and “Twilight” alum Robert Pattinson.
